In 2000, the Surgeon General's Report on Oral Health was released, recognizing the connection between oral health and overall health. This report also highlighted the stark disparities and inequities experienced by marginalized communities. Specifically, the increased disease burden and decreased access to affordable oral health care.
More than two decades later, this seminar will discuss the role social determinants of health play in the oral disease burden still experienced by many Americans Furthermore, this course will highlight the burden of dental caries, the most common oral disease in children.
Dental hygienists have the opportunity to help address these challenges through less invasive approaches to treatment and a greater emphasis on prevention and oral health education. This seminar will cover strategies for dental hygienists to advocate for the betterment of society. Learn More Here.
