Online Seminar - The Impact of Edentulism & Dental Implants on the Quality of Life

DESCRIPTION:

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), by age 50, most Americans have lost an average of 12 teeth. The American College of Prosthodontists states that more than 36 million Americans do not have teeth. The literature describes how the impact of edentulism (tooth loss) on oral and general health can decrease the quality of one's life.

Dentistry and dental hygiene advancements have expanded the oral health profession's ability to deliver dental care to the edentulous population wanting tooth replacement with dental implants. However, peri-implant disease occurrence remains a global concern with an emphasis on effective professional and at-home maintenance regimes.

This program will provide a comprehensive look at the impact of edentulism and dental implants on overall health and conclude with strategies for clinicians to safely and effectively care for edentulous people with dental implants through lectures, participation, case presentations, and discussion.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
